Nigeria’s biggest strikers, Victor Osimhen, started from the bench in Napoli’s big win over Salernitania on Sunday.
The striker who missed out of the Super Eagles’ party to the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon was introduced in the 64th minute for Dries Mertens who scored Napoli’s second goal and created assist for Amir Rrahmani to score the third before Lorenzo Insigne completed the route.
The Super Eagles talisman returned to action last week after 57 days on the sidelines due to an injury he sustained in Napoli’s 3-2 loss against Inter Milan last November.
On his return, Osimhen played twenty minutes in Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Bologna. However, he was unable to make any solid impact just like yesterday’s game.
The former Lille man was expected to return to full action to lead the Napoli attack as they charge for a third Scudetto title but coach Luciano Spalletti opted for Belgian forward, Dries Mertens.
