Demonstrating its stance on zero tolerance for acts of misconducts from clubs, the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has banished Lagos state based women side, Robo FC Queens to Ijebu-Ode.
The caution is coming on the heels of breach of Article 16.1 of the Nigeria Women Football League which attracts banishment from home ground of any club found wanting of conducts aimed at bringing disrepute to the gains and giant strides made in the women game in Nigeria.
According to a statement from NWFL signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, FC Robo Queens will also pay a fine of N2.5m for the encroachment and harassment of match officials by their fans in the match against Delta Queens.
The statement read in parts; “Following the establishment that there was an encroachment, disturbance and harassment of match officials by the home team fans on the field of play in the Match No: 14 between FC Robo Queens and Delta Queens played on January 19, 2022, at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Lagos.
“Also in line with Article 16.1, FC Robo Queens have been banished to the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State for next three home matches for the 2021/2022 NWFL Premiership season for bringing the game of football to disrepute.
“We believe the sanction will serve as a deterrent to FC Robo Queens and a strong warning to all the NWFL Premiership clubs.
The Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos has always served as the home ground of the Coach Emmanuel Osahon led side.
