Coach Austin Eguavoen has laughed off Super Eagles’ tag as favourites for the 33rd African Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles produced a commanding display against the Falcons of Sudan and the Pharaohs of Egypt last Tuesday.
The Eguavoen-Tutored side has so far played the best of football at the ongoing tournament. However, Eguaveon would rather play down his team’s good performance, dismissing suggestions that his side is expected to win the title.
Speaking yesterday in a television interview monitored in Lagos, after downing Sudan, the Edo-born football tactician said, “We are doing very well now, thanks to the players, but it’s too early to talk about being favourites.”
“We have to approach the next game in the round of 16 with all seriousness and after crossing that huddle, we look at the next game. ” He said.
