Chelsea are still expected to dip into the January transfer market according to multiple outlets with the club looking to add a full-back to their squad.
Ben Chilwell is out for the season after rupturing his ACL, while Reece James has also been ruled out with a torn hamstring.
Looking towards the summer, it looks like Chelsea will be big players in the market for a certain Norwegian striker, who now looks destined to leave his club.
Chelsea spent a lot of money in bringing Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge after an excellent season at Inter. But it’s not exactly gone to plan.
The Belgian forward controversially was revealed to have said he was not happy with his situation at Chelsea in a recent interview. He would speak openly about wanting to return to Inter whilst at his peak – and being 28 years old – suggesting he’d like to return to the Italian club in the near future.
And whilst he has apologised to Chelsea fans and returned to the first-team, the Blues will certainly be considering life without Lukaku, with another world class striker set to become available.
Erling Haaland looks almost certain to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, with the Express suggesting that Lukaku could be sold, as well as Timo Werner being involved in what is described as a ‘perfect’ deal to bring Haaland to Chelsea.
Werner has struggled since joining the Blues from RB Leipzig, and is reportedly a target for Dortmund to replace Haaland.
Haaland, 21, has a £66million release clause in his contract which can be activated this summer.
Elsewhere, the full-back position is now somewhat of an issue for Thomas Tuchel. With James and Chilwell unavailable, the Blues boss looks to be in the market to sign a replacement.
Football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Barcelona right-back £17m-rated Sergino Dest is on Chelsea’s radar.
Romano has also suggested Emerson Palmieri could be recalled from his season-long loan with Lyon having impressed in France.
Chilwell’s injury has meant the club are reportedly considering bringing him back but would have to pay compensation to do so.
