Newly appointed interim technical adviser of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, has described the ongoing NDDC Under 17 Peace Cup as a wonderful platform to discover young footballers.
Eguavoen, who was part of the guests at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, venue of the competition on Sunday, spoke highly of the showpiece.
“This is wonderful. The future belongs to the young ones. It is a very welcome development. Organising a tournament like this in this region is worth commending. Having said that, I feel it shouldn’t be just here alone. We have to find avenues to reach out to other parts of the country. This is an opportunity for us to see the future stars.”
In the same vein, former Super Eagles star, Tijani Babangida, has expressed excitement over the performance of young players at the NDDC Under 17 Peace Cup.
“It is interesting to see young ones having the opportunity to be able to showcase themselves. Kudos to the organisers who have been able to think about bringing up this kind of tournament.
“It is useful for the youths and something than will take them off the streets. I think it is something very good.”
