Nigeria Professional Football League star, Saidu Abdullahi has stated that players were axed prematurely from Katsina United in the ongoing season.
The former Jigawa Golden Stars midfielder in a chat with Sportingsun, revealed this while urging the League Management Company (LMC) to come to the players’ rescue. The dazzler who was shown the exit door few weeks after the commencement of the season accused the club of owing players salaries and allowances before showing them the exit door.
“I joined Katsina United at the beginning of the season and all I could do is to terminate my contract for no reason shortly after the match day two. I wasn’t the only one that witnessed this. Four other players who signed were also kicked out in a disrespectful manner.
“We received no salary before leaving and everything looked like I was dreaming. There was no one to fight for us while the injustice lasted. I urge the League Management Company to intervene for this is capable of denting the league’s image.
“I’m still in search of a new team and I hope they won’t disturb my next move. It’s annoying that this still happens in the Nigeria league. As I speak, I don’t even know the hope of other players who were axed. I hope with time, corruption will end and we’ll move to where we deserve to be,” he stated.
Meanwhile, team media officer, Nisir Gide tagged the allegation a fake news. He however expressed the players were axed early this season based on their work rate during the preseason tourney.
“We owe no player a dime. Here in Katsina United, our players received salary as at when due. As a matter of fact, they received it just like a civil servant. I remember players were axed at the beginning of the season because their work rate was low compared to what we wanted. We never registered them for league actions. I don’t think he has a contract with us, he countered.
