Inter Milan have ruled out their interest in pursuing a deal that would see Romelu Lukaku return to the club from Chelsea, according to a report.
The 28-year-old made the return to Stamford Bridge only last summer, in what was a record-breaking transfer for Chelsea worth around £97m.
After initially making a bright start on his return, after previously leaving the Champions League holders back in 2014, the Belgian striker has struggled to impress so far this season, netting just five Premier League goals in 17 appearances.
As a result, Lukaku had been linked with a move back to Italy, where he helped Inter to the Serie A title under Antonio Conte by scoring 24 league goals in 36 appearances.
However, multiple reports in Italy, via Football Italia, are suggesting that the Serie A champions are not seeking a move for their former forward, largely due to the financial implications that would be involved in a potential deal.
Inter’s struggling financial situation meant that the sales of Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi were required to cover significant losses, which led to Conte leaving the Italian capital.
Meanwhile, Lukaku’s next appearance for Chelsea could be in the EFL Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday, after being dropped to the bench for the 2-0 win over Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday.
