Edo State teenager, David Abiebhode was Man of the Match as he played not out with Salim Salau to defeat Akwa Ibom in the South-South finals of the U-17 cricket championship.
Akwa Ibom batted first scoring 50 runs in the 15overs match and that became a very easy chase for Edo state who played 54 without a fall of wicket.
Edo, host of the PwC sponsored national cricket tournament has produced some of Nigeria’s brightest teenage cricketers for national team because of quality cricket facilities.
To qualify for the finals team Akwa Ibom defeated Cross River and Bayelsa States. The regional favourite, Edo state defeated Rivers and Delta States to reach the south south finals and beat Akwa Ibom with ease.
