Real Madrid is trying to get Kylian Mbappe from PSG, while PSG is trying to get one of Real’s legends – Zinedine Zidane – as manager next season.
There have been reports since early September about PSG wanting the French coach to replace Mauricio Pochettino, but it never really happened.
Zidane was either not interested, or was trying to not be too rash in his decision-making. Obviously, moving to such a big club after the season’s already started is a big thing, and Zidane is known for making smart decisions with his career, so it makes sense.
There were also reports that even if Zinedine Zidane was to somehow be convinced by PSG, their Champions League tie against Real Madrid simply made it impossible for him to move to Paris this season.
PSG is hell-bent on his signature, though. According to a report from Footmercato, they’ve come up with a plan to get him to sign the contract.
According to the report, PSG are offering Zinedine Zidane a huge, huge salary, which would be much more than what Real Madrid offered him during his two spells in charge. Apart from that, they’re claiming to give him full power to lead the dressing room, make signings, etc.
The club is very top-heavy, and no offense, but they don’t seem like fun people to work with. There have been so many ego clashes, so much politics and so many difficulties between the board and the manager in the last few years, that it seems unfathomable that Zinedine Zidane would ever coach PSG. There are a lot of reasons for that.
