Super Eagles coach to the FIFA World Cup in Korea/ Japan 2002, Adegboyega Festus Onigbinde is convinced that Nigerian coaches are capable of leading the national team.
Onigbinde while reacting to the question of who takes over the mantle of the Super Eagles stated that his opinion remains that an indigenous stadium remains the best man for the job.
“Indigenous coaches have proved better options in handling the national team but the NFF always in a hurry to hire foreigners. Nigeria football can’t grow that way. If Nigeria wants to improve her football, it must first improve her coaches who in turn will improve the players just as the administrators must also improve.
“Personally, I have made enough enemies preaching for the choice of indigenous coach. I have proven that and others have also done so but the NFF is not comfortable with that.”
