Napoli is said to be afraid of losing Nigerial international, Victor Osimhen and to fend off interest in goal poacher, the Italian club is poised to handing him a new contract.
According to a retired Italy international turned pundit Salvatore Bagni, Osimhen yawns for EPL action and could be tempted to leave by the summer.
But Osimhen, who was bought by Napoli in 2020 for a club record fee of 70 million euros, still has around three and half years left on his contract with the Serie A outfit.
The Nigeria international is being linked with a summer move to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur among his suitors, and to convince him to stay the Naples outfit is planning to offer him improved terms.
“Victor Osimhen is linked to Napoli by a contract that will end on June 30th 2025. The Neapolitans will ask the Nigerian to extend his contract for another season,” Bagni reportedly said during the broadcast of Si gonfia la rete.
“I can already anticipate the response of the former Lille: he will certainly say yes to Aurelio De Laurentiis”.
Bagni does not expect Osimhen to depart Napoli in the summer, noting that he is not convinced that one of the clubs interested in signing the striker will make a bid in the region of 100 million euros.
“I’m not even so convinced that triple-digit offers will arrive to Aurelio De Laurentiis in the coming months.
“The striker is doing very well, but his football is still evolving strongly. When his growth path is completed he will also be able to go to a top international club, “he stated.
