Man Accused Of Stealing Maradona’s Watch Gets Bail

Wazid Hussain, who hit the headlines after stealing legendary footballer Diego Maradona’s watch, was granted bail as Assam Police failed to file charge sheet against him.

After slapping a bail bond of Rs 15,000 on Tuesday, the Sivasagar Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court released him.

According to reports, Hussain’s lawyer, Ramjan Ali, asserted that the court gave enough time to submit necessary evidence but police couldn’t do so. Moreover, the police also failed to prove that he stole legendary footballer’s watch from Dubai.

”Eventually, the statutory period of two months expired but Police failed to prove their point in court with any evidence,” media reports quoted him as saying.

In December 2021, the Assam Police had arrested him for allegedly stealing a luxury watch that belonged to late legendary football player, Diego Maradona.

He was arrested from his residence based on inputs from the Dubai Police, said the state Director General of Police.
