Three of the Lagos teams are dominating this year’s edition of the Crown Elite Basketball Championship going on at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The trio of Lagos Legends, Lagos Highlanders has won two of their games while UNILAG Basketball teams defeated Ebun Cometh with a wide margin in their opening game.
The five-day tournament that began on Tuesday is featuring some of Nigeria’s most decorated teams for a chance to win over N4 million in prizes and awards, as well as an opportunity to participate in an international US basketball tour.
This year’s event, according to the organiser, has been more engaging, energising and entertaining with fun filled spectator events that include dunk and shooting contests, live entertainment by sheer leaders from good music as well as gifts and prizes to thrill every fan in attendance.
“We are also especially excited to have the opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s best and brightest basketball talents on the national and international stage,” a statement signed by John Abalaka, the media officer, said.
The winner of the championship will smile home with a sum of N1.5 million while the second place and third place team goes home with a consolation price of N1 million and N500, 000.00 respectively.
