Leon Balogun has been recognised for his outstanding display for Rangers in their 5-0 rout of Heart of Midlothian on Sunday with football statistics website Whoscored naming the Nigeria international in its Scottish Premiership Team of the Week.
In his first start in the division in two months, Balogun helped the Scottish champions keep their first clean sheet in three games.
A back issue that saw him withdraw from the Super Eagles roster for the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations sidelined the experienced center back.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Balogun is partnered in central defence by Carl Starfelt in the Team of the Week, with Rangers’ James Tavernier and Dundee United’s Graham occupying the right back and left back positions.
Celtic duo, Abada and Rogic, Rangers’ Ryan Kent and Livingston’s Alan Forrest are in a four-man midfield, while Alfredo Morelos (Rangers) and Jordan White (Ross County) are the strikers.
Against Hearts, Balogun registered game-high figures for tackles (5) and interceptions (3), and his three clearances were the best by a Rangers player.
The 33-year-old completed 76.2 percent of his passes, touched the ball 58 times and won two aerial duels over the course of ninety minutes at Ibrox Stadium.
