Sergio Aguero has revealed that his heart issues have left him wondering whether he will be able to sprint again.
The 33-year-old striker was forced to retire in December after being diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia — an irregular heartbeat.
The former Manchester City striker was taken to hospital after he suffered chest pain in Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Alaves in October.
Speaking candidly on a Twitch stream, the striker said: “If I try to play football now, I run out of breath. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to sprint again.
“I just feel like my heart doesn’t work properly.”
Aguero scored 184 goals in 275 Premier League appearances at City to become the club’s all-time top scorer. He won five Premier League titles during his time at the Etihad. His first title was secured thanks to his famous injury-time winner against Queens Park Rangers in 2012. He also won one FA Cup and six League Cups.
He joined Barcelona last summer, and scored one goal in only five appearances for the club.
At international level, the forward helped Argentina win this year’s Copa America and represented them at three World Cups. He clocked up 101 games for his country, scoring 41 goals.
