Watford manager Claudio Ranieri has provided a fitness update on Emmanuel Dennis before his side’s Emirates FA Cup third round clash against Leicester City.
The Italian was without the Nigeria international for the entirety of the second half in a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash on New Year’s Day.
Ranieri has suggested that Dennis is likely to miss the trip to Leicester City but will resume training next week ahead of three important Premier League games in the space of six days against Newcastle United, Burnley and Norwich City.
The 24-year-old has surprised a lot of people after doing extremely well in his maiden season in the Premier League, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in seventeen appearances.
“Emmanuel took a kick in the match against Tottenham and I prefer to preserve him for the next matches. It is not too serious,” Ranieri said to Watford’s official website.
“I preserve him, he will start to train with us all week and he will be ready.”
Oghenekaro Etebo is still rehabbing after surgery and is not available for selection against the Foxes while William Troost-Ekong is on international duty with the Super Eagles in Cameroon.
