Organisers of the 2022 Queen Adijat Gbadamosi Memorial Cup has disclosed readiness for the annual female grassroots football tourney.
The competition set for eight teams, has been billed to kick-off at proposed palace ground, Sansan field, Igando Lagos come 14th of February.
Addressing the press ahead the tournament, chief organizer, Prince Gbadamosi Adebola Sulaimon, hinted all hands on on deck to host the eleventh edition of the soccer fiesta. He however stated forms are out for grab for interested teams.
“ This year edition will be fantastic. The organizers has set aside monetary reward for winners and participant. Aside from the monetary reward, laurels and trophies will also be distributed to teams.
“ Presently, things are going on well and grassroots club owners has started showing interest. It’s going to be superb and I won’t let the cat out of the bag until the D-day,” he stated.
Stressing further, Prince unfolded the tourney has produced a lot of female soccer stars who has travelled outside the shore of the country for greener pasture.
“ I can tell you this competition has produce a lot of footballers who are currently doing great across the world. The previous edition has been a tip of iceberg compere to what we are about to bring forth this year,’ he stated.
The soccer fiesta which was set to honor foremost wife of Oba Lasisi Gbadamosi [Onigando of Ignado], will see Future Stars, 99 Queens, Mighty Touch Queen Apapa, Arising Star Queen Ojo, Royal Toms FC, Otta and host of others battle to clinch the trophy which was last lifted by Sharp Striker FC of Ikotun.
