Parker Hopes To Set Up AJ Rematch

JOSEPH PARKER is hoping to land a rematch with Anthony Joshua after his fight with Derek Chisora.

The 29-year-old takes on Chisora at the Manchester Arena on December 18 hoping to extend his win streak to six.

Despite the outcome of his fight with the 39-year-old currently unknown, Parker is already plotting his next move in the heavyweight division.

Parker wants a rematch against Joshua, who despite losing the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk, is still one of the top heavyweights.

The former WBO heavyweight champion lost to AJ by unanimous decision in 2018 but hopes he can one day get revenge on the Brit.

He said: “The most important thing is keep winning, win, win, win, and put myself in a position where I fight for the world title when it becomes available.

“But if I do well in this fight and put in a great performance, then I’m willing to fight anyone in the top rankings.

“I think that’s the only way to be – if you fight people who are above you, that’s the only way to fight for the world championship.

“So, yes, I want to fight Joshua again. He’s the perfect opponent.

“We had a first fight it wasn’t he most exciting fight but I think we can make it exciting if we face each other again.”

Despite the loss, the 29-2 Kiwi was the first opponent to take Joshua the full distance ending the Brit’s 20-fight knockout streak.

He continued: “It was good to take him to the distance and be the first person to do that, but for me going into the fight I really wanted to win.

“In saying that, though, I was beaten by the better man on the day. Joshua, to me, was the better man that day, the way he boxed the way he controlled the distance.

“But when I left that fight I wasn’t angry or upset with myself.
