More Wins As Nigerian Track Athletes Impress At Meets

Nigerian track and field athletes over the weekend continued to push the bar in their impressive pursuits of excellence in different Collegiate Indoor meets across Europe.

2019 All Africa Silver medalist, Favour Ofili, running the 60m for the first time, did not disappoint, returning two Personal Bests of 7.27s in the heat and 7.24s in the final at the Purple Tiger Meet.

Her astonishing performance has earned her the first Female Track Athlete of the Week for 2022. Ofili’s new PR ranks her 13th on the Nigerian All-Time list in the women’s 60m and the fastest by a collegiate athlete in recent years.

Onyekwelu Benjamin of Middle Tennessee took the win at the men’s long jump in flight 2, recording a distance of 7.71m to take the win at the Vanderbilt Invitational.

An opener of 7.59m saw Emmanuel Ineh (Alabama) win the men’s Long Jump today at the Samford Invite in Birmingham, finishing ahead of his teammates, Quincy Scott, who recorded 7.47m and Julian Collins with 7.12m.

Ehire Omamuyowi of Middle Tennessee finished second in the men’s high jump in 2.16m at the Vanderbilt Invitational 2022.

Imaobong Nse Uko was in action for Baylor University and it was a straight win as she recorded an Individual PR of 54.60s to win the women’s 400m at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa.

Nathaniel Ezekiel, a tall lanky boy was in action for Baylor University, The Bukar Tiger’s proud athlete competed in the men’s 200m and returned an Individual PR of 22.29s to place 3rd in his heat at the Larry Wieczorek invitational.
