Man City Say Them Won Use Money From Torres Sale Add Buy Haaland

Manchester City will put the money they earned from selling Ferran Torres to Barcelona towards their mega-deal for Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland, according to reports.

Haaland is widely expected to leave the club this summer, a move that will spark a fierce bidding war between a number of the world’s heavyweight clubs. City will be firmly in the chase, as Sportsmail has reported.

And in a bid to beat off the competition, the runaway Premier League leaders will look to re-invest the handsome £55million figure they recently banked at the end of the season, as claimed by The Mirror.

Scoring sensation Haaland has a buyout clause in his contract worth £64million, and City will almost certainly be about to match this due to their enviable riches and their willingness to offload Torres, who left after struggling for game time.

However, potential suitors will also have to splash out on the frontman’s sizeable wage demands. The same report goes as far as saying that he would expect to earn more than Kevin De Bruyne, who makes £400,000-per-week.

In a further boost to City and their transfer plans, Haaland’s future is reportedly set to be decided by the end of February at the latest.

BILD have reported that Dortmund is looking to piece together a club-record financial package in a bid to convince him to stay, with talks set to get underway at the start of this month with agent Mino Raiola and his dad, Alf-Inge Haaland.

The outlet details that the Bundesliga outfit was willing to double their talisman’s annual salary to £13.4m-per-year, which equates to £260,000-per-week. He may also rake in up to £6.7m in bonuses from Puma, Dortmund’s manufacturer.

With the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid also keeping close tabs on the situation, City will be keen for clarity, which will enable them to turn their attention to other potential targets if necessary ahead of next summer.
