Chelsea Dey Confuse About Haaland Transfer

Chelsea has found itself in an intriguing situation regarding their chase of Borussia Dortmund forward, Erling Haaland.

The Blues have been linked with the Norwegian hitman for some time and they have been given hope over a potential summer deal, with die Schwarzgelben’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke admitting that he could leave during 2022.

Talking in an interview with Der Spiegel, he said: “Haaland will not leave in January. No way. Who accepts to sell top European striker during the winter break when they don’t have to?

“Next year? Of course, it will be difficult to keep him. Nevertheless we want to and we’ll try.”

Intriguingly, Dortmund was credited with an interest in a couple of Chelsea players ahead of Haaland’s potential departure.

According to Fichajes, they have their eyes on both Timo Werner and Andreas Christensen and could make a move in the future.

Valued at £76m between them, it is fair to say that the Blues would be in line for a considerable windfall should they elect to sell – albeit Christensen currently heading towards the end of his contract this summer.

It all means then that Chelsea faces a choice over whether to do business with Dortmund.

The German club’s interest in Werner and Christensen could give Marina Granovskaia the perfect opportunity to negotiate a part-exchange for Haaland – a deal that Dortmund could well be tempted by.

The only sticking point is of course Christensen’s current deal – and the fact he is now eligible to negotiate a Bosman move abroad.

It is certainly an intriguing situation that Chelsea find themselves in but one that they could use to their advantage to finally sign one of the most sought-after names in world football.
