The Captain of Arsenal Golf and Country Club, Clifford Orjiako, has declared the club’s readiness to host the annual Leopard Ladies Golf Tournament and Beauty Pageants scheduled from Friday 28 to Sunday January 30, 2022.
While assuring almost 500 golfers expected to participate in the 4th edition of the golf event of their safety, Orjiako explained that Arsenal Golf and Country Club that was founded in 2003 has never had any security issue till date, adding no stone was left unturned in ensuring safety of all guests.
Speaking in the same vein, Ms. Sumbo Oshile, the coordinator of the event said the tournament began at the Tiger Golf Club in Ibadan five years ago while the second edition took place at the Shagamu Golf Club in Ogun State a year after in 2020 while the in 2021, the 3rd edition was held at the Abeokuta Golf Club.
Oshile stated that that the overwhelming support from golfers all over the country was what warranted the tour moving beyond the west and for all encompassing participation as well as to quell the insinuations of a political undertone with the southwest Àmótékun security outfit.
“The Leopard Golf Tournament and Beauty Pageant was conceived and delivered long before the advent of this Àmótékun security innovation. Every participant for the golf and beauty show event are expected to be clad in leopard skin print attire according to the tradition and concept of the tournament that is focused on women empowerment with particular interest in women in golf,” Oshile noted.
The former Lady Captain of Ibadan Golf Club and Tiger Golf Club however expressed her appreciation to their numerous sponsors and judges for the beauty pageant aspect of the event which include: Col Ade Sunmonu Rtd, Dr John Dongo and Gen M.C Ezeoke Rtd.
The Leopard Golf organising committee comprises of Ongodi Nkwoji, the team leader, Maureen Reece, former lady captain of Ikoyi Club Golf section, Mary Gabriel, Clifford Orjiako, Captain Arsenal Golf, Lady Captain Aba Golf Club, Doris Raymond, Chike Okoroafor and Ms Sumbo Oshile, former Lady Captain for Ibadan Golf Club and Tiger Golf Club as the Coordinator for the tournament.
