Following the latest health condition of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, on loan Monaco forward, Henry Onyekuru has been called up as a replacement for the Napoli forward ahead of the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
www.sportingsun.com gathered from the media in Greece that Onyekuru has been handed a call up invite to the Nigerian team as a replacement for the goal getter who is still recuperating from a facial injury.
Aside the injury, the 23 year old also tested positive for Covid-19 which will require a seven- day- isolation period ahead of the start of the tournament in Cameroon in nine days time.
Onyekuru was included in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He played for 12 minutes at the finals, coming on as a late substitute in their 1–2 semi-final defeat to eventual champions Algeria.
