NAFA Ready To Encourage Young Players – Ojaideh

Nigerian American Football Association(NAFA) Secretary Lawrence Ojaideh says the humbling experience of watching young children playing without shoes will spur the Association to encourage them to maximize their potentials in the sport.

Ojaideh spoke during the just concluded Secondary School football league qualifiers that had 40 schools in Lagos state trade tackles.

“One thing that we experienced during these qualifiers  was children coming out to play without shoes especially during the first day.We have to see how we could encourage them.“We had 22 schools play this league both male and female. Almost a thousand players playing in a Qualifiers game for a league like this is good. This is a glimpse of what we will witness in 2022 as the league starts.”

“It is  an initiative to see that we use this sport to make kids remain in school and make their minds diverted from things that can endanger their lives. Then to keep them responsible and for the economy of Nigeria, we are looking at this as a point where we can use it to boost the economy.

“During the league, we want to see people from all over the world come to watch our kids here in Nigeria and also pick talents from them.

“This is a sport that has lots of scholarship opportunities and we will see how we can help the children of Nigeria to have scholarship opportunities both locally and Internationally. It means there are so many opportunities. The tournament featured 19 male teams and 21 female teams with matches played across 4 centers in Lagos namely Dairy farms field Agege, Green Springfield, Elegbata stadium, and LASU field.
