I Turned Down Players Sent To Me By NFF Officials – Rohr

Former coach, Gernot Rohr, admitted he rejected advice from officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) when he was in charge of the Super Eagles.

Rohr was sacked from his role on Sunday and has since been replaced by a consortium of local coaches led by Austin Eguaveon.

In a media chat with ESPN, the Franco-German revealed, he stood his ground against some officials who want his choice of players’ selection.

“I know Nigerians are passionate about football and everyone has their own favourites and I understand that everybody wants to see some players and we discussed it,”

“Perhaps I didn’t follow some of the suggestions and the advice of the officials; that is possible because I wanted to make the choice (selections) with my technical staff and not with people from outside the team.”

“I had a lot of suggestions. I understand that officials want us to do well, everyone wants to bring in their advice and opinion but it was too much.” Rohr said.

Rohr also confirmed his lawyers are still working on his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation.
